Hoosier Ladies Aside, Inc.

Promoting and Preserving the Elegance, Beauty, and Art of Sidesaddle Riding

Members News!!

A notice to all HLA members!  For those of you who sew or are interested in costumes, we have available a library of patterns for loan.

These include nearly all period patterns offered by the major pattern makers.  All sizes are available.  We only ask that you do not cut the pieces out, only copy what you need.  Just pay for the postage to send them to you and for the return.  This service is through the generosity of Darlene Galloway who has purchased these patterns for the members use.  We thank her for offering them to us!!

If you have a pattern you would like to use, contact Christy Lenon, Jennifer Nickle,  or Darlene Galloway,  with the make (Butterick, etc.) and number and it will be sent to you.

2010

Patti Huber and Teappeal will be taking part in the Midwest Horse Fair at Madison, Wi on April 16.  They will be part of a team demonstrating Equi-soccer.  Sounds like fun Patti.  Hope we can see some photos.

2009

Here's a new horse for Susie Davis.  She calls him Merlin.

Here is the latest attempt to find a horse for Christy.  He's an appendix QH named Winston.

Here's hoping he will work for all concerned.  He's only 6 so -----???

More pics of Winston with Christy's student Curtis.  They are both doing quite well.

The Howells have a new horse.  Her name is Molly and she is a TW/Rocky MT cross.  Bill is hoping to join us in some parades next year.  I bet she will be a smooth ride.  Congrats!!

A new addition to Cricket Hill Farm is Little Bit.  He was dumped off in early July.

What a cutie with one blue and one green eye!

Little Bit is getting bigger - the photo on the right is from 11/12

Becky Cherry also has a new mount.  Her name is Lilly and she's a Warmblood.

Sarah Cowan has a new addition too.  Derby is a pony.

I also hear that Sarah has a new home with an indoor arena.

We just might have to impose on her for next year's clinic.  We'd love to see some photos Sarah.

Kit Roszko has a new ride as well.  The name is Autumn Equinox a Throughbred gelding.

She is in partnership with Frances Johanns on the horse and they seem to be doing quite well!

(Yes, I know his name wasn't "Colonel", but that is all I ever heard him called.)

The team also won a 2nd in the over fences class.

Pattie Huber has a new horse.  She is a Polish Arabian - Gameal Amigo.

Barn name is Ami.  14hh, homozygous black, born 1994.

She's getting that "head down" move pretty good!

2008

On March 29th Becky Cherry and her Pie took part in an open house for her local Country Mart.  She did a radio interview and they were quite interested in her sidesaddle and her habit.  Looks like she also got a new convert to give it a try.  Thanks to them for promoting sidesaddle!

Congrats to Mary and Summer

They placed 5th in a class of 12 and 6th out of 12 in the Championship class at an Egyptian Arabian

national show in Ky. the week after our clinic.
