HLA and the Horse Rescue
June 2, 2007
Donna Huffman and Christy Lenon participating.
Others were willing but the 1 days notice would not allow.
Thanks to all who offered help!!
The line up at 8am. near the Gibson County Humane Soc.
We counted over 16 rigs!!
The barn on the property. This photo does not give a good idea of just how LONG this barn was!
If I were to guess - I would say that down one side you could put 30 - 12' stalls?
(I've since learned that the barn is 700' by 40' - even bigger than I imagined!)
The property has been purchased by the rescue group and all the horses did not have to be relocated!
Only the most at risk animals were transported to the main office for round the clock care.
Just one of the over 63 horses found in very poor condition.
A better view of the last pictured horse.
(Better being a relative term to be sure!)
A pregnant mare. How she has enough food going in to support a pregnancy is beyond me!
(I think this may be the one who was going to foal quite soon!)
This one HAS a foal! I think she's the one who in the next photos, went down while trying to load her.
They were quick to get an IV started!
(I just noticed - that's Donna above the man's head)
Hard to believe she could have delivered a live foal!
